This is crazy - last year, the Dipsea winner was an 8 year old girl. Second place? A 68 year old woman. Here's an inspiring video for all those days we say "I can't."
This race is INCREDIBLY hard, and the most amazing race. Period. Sadly, I didn't get in this year (it's on a lotto and they try to keep it local).

Dad time
There are a bagillion blogs for moms and mothers of multiples, I feel like. Not too many for dads, though. A reader emailed me a nice article with a list of some blogs for dudes - they cover everything from daddy daycare to dodo and have some good tips. Here's a post called "Top 15 blogs for first time dads."
Here are some others I'm liking:
Here are some others I'm liking:
- TwinDadBlog - a dad who has two degrees in theater and talks about whatever is top of mind.
- Big City Dad - a single father raising his daughter in NYC.
- Childs play x2 - funny rants from a dad of twins.

Easter egg hunts with the Taylor Twins
Today was a beautiful, sunny day in Seattle. So it seems the whole city came out to enjoy it - us included. We met up with Lisa, Frank, Lila, and Andrew at the zoo first thing this morning for an Easter egg hunt.
The boys rode the carousal for the first time ever and loved it.
I squeezed in a short run while the boys took a power nap. Then we made our way to Gasworks park for time in the flowers before a jog back up to the park to get afternoon energy out.
Throughout the day the boys traded off saying "happy." I think Matt and I were saying it internally, too. It was a great day.

Taylor family vacation
We just got back from Kauai and it was amazing. This was our first vacation in 5-years (since our honeymoon) and it was much needed. We flew first class (thank you Alaska Airlines credit card - when you get the card, you can buy one ticket at regular price and the second at $99 so it wound up being cheaper than coach with food and checked bags) with the boys on our laps. We got a few nasty looks from the other passengers, but what can you do. Besides, our boys were quieter and more polite than the first classians who got blitzed on the flight.
Upon arrival we met up with Matt's parents at the airport and made our way to their time share in Poipu. The boys loved being in the sun, and I think we have a little surfer on our hands. Papalito (Don - grandpa Taylor) rented a boogie board and Wilson kept trying to stand up. Cole turned into a little musician running up to lamp-posts singing "babbaloo babaloo" throughout the day.
Near the Beach House, where there was the best snorkling we found, we checked out a few key Kauai spots: the Spouting Horn where we saw turtles and wales swimming around, and the Savage Shrimp shrimp truck. Not sure which I enjoyed more :).
The boys really started playing together this trip. They loved shutting themselves anywhere they fit especially.
We had to get the token family pic. This is pre-tan ... but then again, we were in SPF 50 the entire time so our "tan" is minimal at best.
The boys fell in love with the fish in front of our room. We did too! Every morning was breakfast time for the fish - the boys being the servers.
And here's where I ran every morning - a great point to point to point run where I got to enjoy the crashing waves, trees, and of course chickens.
Home again home again, we returned to spring in Seattle.

Run club!
I FINALLY found a run club to hit the pavement with - Greenlake Running group who my co-worker found on Meetup. This morning I met up with the group at the wee hour of 5:30am - before the boys get up so I'm not missing time I can spend with them which is perfect, before I'm fully awake so I'm two left feet which is ... interesting.

Weekend Roundup - social times
We've been in a bit of a social lull with colds and work ramps but this weekend we broke that. Friday after work a bunch of co-workers and I went for a drink, then Matt and the boys picked me up at the wee hour of 5:30pm for a cozy night at home.
Saturday our friends Lloyd, Emily, and their adorable baby Louis came over for brunch. The boys were in awe of little Louis and then jealous any time I held him. Seems they can handle me giving attention to the "other" one of them, but when it comes to a non-twin in the brood, look out!
Saturday afternoon we all napped and then Thomas and Sigrid came over for an early dinner, games, and mellow time.
Sunday we met up with Salil, Nicole, and RJ at Farmer's. We didn't stay at the market long as it was overly crowded for some reason, so we trekked up to the Locks and let the boys run. Sunday afternoon in an effort to calm the boys who were literally climbing walls and tables (somehow Cole managed to climb up the dining room table and seat himself in the high chair - we still can't figure out how), we went for a "drive-a-bout" to look at Seattle neighborhoods. Right now we're loving Madison Park ... we'll just need to win the lotto first.
