Usually I think "running rules" - as in, it's rad! But right now I'm finding the running rules / race scoring criteria a little baffling. The IAAF is updating the rules on how records can be counted. Whereas before a record was on actual time, now for women it's only on time if it was in an all-women's race. Confusing, right? The argument is that women run better when they're competing against men. Well duh!
My best race was against a field of men - two of whom wore matchy spandex outfits and strutted around the starting line not making eye contact. I beat them by a minute ... and I was 5mo pregnant.
I am definitely one for following the rules but I don't get / like this one. Guess it's a good thing I won't be setting any records any time soon!
