I cannot believe the boys are (nearly) 3 - their real birthday is on the 10th. Time goes way too fast and I'm loving every second with them. They are now running, jumping, singing, playing music on anything they can make noise with, and having long chatty conversations every night. This past week we had a whirwind family fest with my mom here for a week overlapping with Matt's parents who came in on July 4th. Here's a quick roundup:
With my mom we did a bit of exploring. We went to a few playgrounds (of course). We enjoyed Ballard beach tide pooling and then another beach in Ballard for sandcastle fun. We went on a shopping birthday outing with "Grandma Lucy" where it was nearly impossible to get the boys out of the toy store. And we enjoyed a lot of fun downtime at home.
This weekend we celebrated the boys' third birthday with Matt's parents and some good friends. Building up to the party, Matt and his dad knocked out a fence in just 2 days flat - AMAZING! We're now getting drive bys with people stopping to say how nice the fence looks.
On Saturday we threw the boys a birthday party. At first I was super nervous - it seemed I picked the wrong week. People were out of town and then one of the two little boys we invited was sick. Oofa! The party wound up being awesome - Louis came and enjoyed pool time with the boys.
When Lloyd, Emily, and Louis were leaving Desi and family came in for yet more pool time. Towards the end of the day, Emily and RJ came by to hang even though RJ wasn't feeling super great - trouper! Our neighbors came and Matt's parents were here and the house and yard were just filled with love and happiness.
The kids all made dinner for the "grown ups" and loved eating what they made.
The boys keep singing "happy birthday to me" even still.
