To do: fun runs with Lululemon!

I may not be able to run, but I still love the Lululemon fun runs. Weekly we meet at Lululemon on Union St. at 6:30pm for 3-5 mile runs (or walks). Recently PacWest started offering yoga for runners at 7:30pm on Mondays at Lulu so we've been keeping the runs to 3 miles so everyone can get back in time to stretch/yoga.

Here are this week's runs:
3-mile hills / parks:

  • Start at Lulu
  • Down to Gough
  • Right on Gough and up to Washington
  • Right on Washington and over to Fillmore
  • Up Fillmore to Broadway, right on Broadway
  • Up up up to the park and down Lyon St. stairs to Union
  • Back to Lulu
3-mile flat:

  • Start at Lulu
  • Over to Fillmore and down to the water
  • Run along Marina to Sports Basement
  • Turn and backtrack to Baker
  • Right on Baker and up to Union
  • Down Union to Lulu

Lululemon Fun Run!

Another Monday, another great run with Lululemon. Today was a great day for a Lululemon Fun Run. Weekly we've been doing fun runs on Monday nights meeting up at Lululemon. Being a bit tired from our trip to San Diego, I lead a 3-miler instead of the standard 5. Post run - I'm feeling AWESOME! Great group, great loop, great way to start off the week.

Now that I've hit 5-months, I've been thinking a lot about "can I still run while pregnant with twins" and doing as much research as I can. Here are the cliffs notes - the problems with running can include:
  • Getting the heart rate up too high - if I have trouble breathing, the boys do too
  • Putting strain on my pelvis
  • Putting strain on my cervix which can cause pre-term labor
On the flip side, and after talking to my doctor, since I ran before getting pregnant:
  • My body is used to the running
  • If I watch the bouncing, I'm better off
  • If I stick at conversational pace, I'm OK
For now, I have the thumbs up to keep going, so I'm going to keep listening to my body (and the growing boys) and run.

Lululemon Fun Run!

I can't believe Monday is already here. It's been a looooooooong day catching up (it's amazing how much work can pile up with just one day off - I can't imagine what my 6-week maternity leave is going to bring!...) and a run is quite needed.

Here's what I'm thinking for the Lulu Fun Run tonight (I've dubbed this the "park run" as we circle 5 parks):

  • Union > gough
  • Up to Sacramento > Right
  • Sacramento > Steiner > Left
  • Steiner > Jackson > Right
  • Jackson > Scott > Right
  • Scott > Broadway > Left
  • Broadway > Lyon> Right
  • Lyon > Marina Blvd > Right
  • Marina Blvd > Webster > Right
  • Webster > Bay > Right
  • Bay > Laguna > Right
  • Laguna > Union > Left
4.68 mi

If you're around, come on down!

Lululemon Ambassador - Me!

Lululemon recently asked me to be an Ambassador and I'm so excited! They're posted a mini bio about me on their website and soon I'll have my very own posters (the photo shoot was an adventure trying to hide the bump under layers of spandex - not an easy feat!)
The greatest thing? Lulu's workout pants and sweats are the best for pregnant and non-pregnant athletic and lounge-wear alike. No joke, I live in mine on weekends.

Drowned smurf or blueberry - you decide!

Another Monday, another awesome Lululemon run. Tonight we only had two other guys show up (I'll chalk it up to the rain) but we were truckin' (averaging ~ 8min miles).

Soaking wet just home from the run:
You can't tell from my brilliant Under Armour disguise, but there are two kickin' babies in there! You can see the bulbousness in all it's glory here (lettin' it all hang out):
I still haven't told the other Lulu runners but I'm starting to get some funny looks and side-ways belly glances. I guess the truth should come out ...

It was a good run

On Monday nights I lead "fun runs" for Lululemon and PacWest. Tonight was freezing but we still had a crowd of 4 + 2 small dogs. We started at Lulu on Union Street and ran over to Gough, then up up up to Sacramento, over to Fillmore, up to Broadway, up up to the Presidio, down the "Di Fi" stairs (Dianne Feinstein lives on the side of the stairs), around Palace of Fine Arts, along the water, and back up to Lulu. Great run! Over the course of 5-miles we circled 5 parks, scaled 5 hills, and enjoyed multiple great (breathless) conversations.

What a way to start the week. I'm off to a running start ...
